"Bury ladies hockey club means so much to me.♥️ Having moved up North on my own I felt so supported and welcomed and instantly found a strong group of friends. My love of hockey was reignited and seeing the girls weekly helped me in so many ways! "I loved hockey at school (almost an unhealthy obsession) but university hockey was too cliquey an in the end I quit. It took me a long time to build up the courage to return. After 12 years I reached out to Bury Ladies and from the very first moment the whole club welcomed me in. I'd just moved to Ramsbottom and I instantly found a group of friends who I feel totally at home with. We all love our hockey, but also realise everyone has lives and 101 things going on. We just want everyone to enjoy themselves and feel included. I would encourage anyone who's considering starting / returning to hockey to drop us a message!"

"Our daughter joined Bury aged 14 and has now played 3 seasons with the senior teams. The club is set up really well with weekly training sessions and fixtures, a proactive committee and very enthusiastic members with an active social side to include all ages. As parents, it has been great to exerperience the encouragement and nurturing our daughter has had from the coaches and senior players and we feel safe knowing she is in good hands. We are also made to feel part of the club and the support at each game is fantastic. She did not know anyone when she started playing but has now made good friends. It is a great set up from Juniors to Seniors and we can't wait for the season to start."

"My daughter joined Bury Ladies Hockey Club when she was 12 - initially with Jags but quickly playing with the senior squad. She was very nervous about playing with adults but the ladies couldn't have been more welcoming and encouraging. Over the last four years I have seen her build confidence, skills and friendships that have been fostered by all members of the ladies team. The club has become a big part of our lives and I am grateful for all the support and development she has received."

"I joined the club at the start of last season. I previously came from a club where I didn't feel a part a part of the club and was treated unfairly and began to fall out of love with the sport. I joined after speaking to a friend already at the club who advised the atmosphere was better at Bury and bit the bullet and transferred. Since joining I can honestly say I've never been more excited and happy to be a part of a club before. Not only do I feel valued and a part of something special, my daughter has also signed up for Jags and the support, patience and effort everyone puts in to make her feel speial and happy makes my heart full. All members of Bury Ladies have made me feel so welcome. When I'm on the pitch everyone is so supportive of each other. Off the pitch it's a real friendship group and a celebration of the amazing sport we all play. I have loved my first season with Bury Ladies, and can't wait to continue my hockey life with the amazing club. Thank you to everyone for helping me find my love for hockey again."

"When I moved to Bury in 2020 I didn't know anyone there other than my in-laws. I had played some hockey before for another club but thought I would reach out. I am so glad I did - Bury Ladies Hockey Club is such a welcoming, supportive, fun, encouraging club to be a part of. Not only can I play the sport I love, but I have developed my skills at training, had so many laughs at socials and on tour, and most importantly made lifelong friends here. If you're thinking about joining, just do it. You won't regret it!"

"I joined the club in 1986 and have seen it evolve over the subsequent years - observing the change from old-fashioned grass pitch to Astroturf (via shale, concrete, and everything in between); to losing pitches, to struggling with player numbers, to seeing hockey removed from school curriculums but also seeing teams win trophies and promotions, players win county selection and develop into coaches and umpires. I have absolutely loved that journey and it still gives me that buzz some 40 years on. I would not have remained with this club (in all its iterations) for these 40 years if this ethos of support, friendship and welcome on and off the pitch was not present. It is the club's aspiration to keep hockey vibrant in Bury, to welcome people into our hockey family - either through Jaguars or the senior teams - whatever their skills or confidence, and to treat them as being part of that family as Club Chairman, I will continue to aim for this. If you are thinking of coming and having a go - well, come on down!"
